Each season the Orchestra’s special events calendar culminates in the Annual Fundraising Gala. This sumptuous black tie evening includes a drinks reception, orchestral performance and formal dinner and is held each year in a prestigious London venue.
The 2013 Gala evening will take place in the opulent surroundings of Guildhall, where guests will be treated to a stunning performance in the magnificent Great Hall. Alongside the evening’s musical programme, guests will enjoy a Champagne Taittinger reception on arrival and a formal banquet, with Villa Maria wines, in the company of our Royal Patron HRH The Duke of Kent KG, Orchestra musicians, the Orchestra’s extended family of supporters and special guests from business and the arts.
The gala is an essential component of the Orchestra’s year-round fundraising campaign, attracting support from over 200 guests, including Royal Patron HRH Duke of Kent. The London Philharmonic Orchestra thrives on the quality of its artistic partnerships and consistently collaborates with artists of the highest quality to produce the most exciting performances. Our partners include the world class venues and festivals at which we perform; artistic collaborators, who in the last year have included Simon Callow, Miranda Richardson, and Michael Morpurgo; our Composer in Residence, Julian Anderson; and a host of star performers with whom we work. In the forthcoming season we will work with some of the biggest names in classical music including Leif Ove Andsnes, Leonidas Kavakos, Mitsuko Uchida, Ian Bostridge, Evelyn Glennie, Gerald Finley, and Emanuel Ax. This year’s event will feature the Orchestra alongside its single most important partner – Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor, Vladimir Jurowski.
As well as supporting the appearances of exceptional guest artists across the next year, funds raised at the 2013 Gala will underpin Vladimir’s work with the Orchestra, which continues to challenge and illuminate audiences and musicians alike.
