Event highlights from recent years.

Private Recital and Reception hosted by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Yuri Fedotov and Mrs Elena Fedotova in the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent KG to mark the Orchestra's Revealing Tchaikovsky festival. Thomas Beecham Group patrons enjoyed a performance by Alexander Zemtsov (Viola) and Alexander Markovich (Piano) followed by a drinks reception.

Thomas Beecham Group Concert & Dinner
In recognition of the support given to the London Philharmonic Orchestra by the members of the Thomas Beecham Group, one concert was named ‘The Thomas Beecham Group Concert’. Thomas Beecham Group patrons were joined by the evening's conductor, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Orchestra musicians for a special post-concert dinner.

An evening with the Orchestra's string section
Did you know that the Double Bass owned by section leader Kevin Rundell was very nearly aboard Titanic's maiden voyage? This was just one of the fascinating facts uncovered at our "Everything you ever wanted to know about strings, but were afraid to ask!" event for supporters of the London Philharmonic Orchestra held at our regular rehearsal venue, Henry Wood Hall. Members of the string section performed a selection of their favourite pieces and gave a wonderful insight into life in the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was coupled with a drinks reception on arrival and a post-performance supper where guests enjoyed chatting to musicians and staff.
The Orchestra would like to thank Villa Maria wines and Henry Wood Hall for their support of this event.

The Annual Fundraising Gala
Each season our special events calendar culminates in the Orchestra’s Annual Fundraising Gala.  This sumptuous black tie evening includes a performance and formal dinner and is held each year in a prestigious London venue.  Past events have included an evening at St James’s Palace with renowned pianist Lang Lang, a Russian themed Gala at London’s Guildhall with (then) Guest Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski, a glamorous evening at the Banqueting House with international soloist Sergey Khachatryan, a midsummer’s evening at Lincoln’s Inn and a spectacular 75th Anniversary Gala in the beautiful setting of The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, with music led by Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski and compered by actor Simon Callow. The grand surroundings of London’s Freemasons’ Hall provided a spectacular backdrop to the 2009 Gala evening. Hosted by the Trustees of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the event was this year held in the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent KG, Patron of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and compered by actor Tom Conti.  The Gala 2009 celebrated and showcased the Orchestra’s BrightSparks Schools’ Concerts, offering a wonderful evening of musical entertainment for special guests and supporters whilst raising funds for this important area of our work.
