FUNharmonics Family Concerts

Do you remember the very first orchestral concert you attended? Do you remember how old you were, and who took you to hear the orchestra play?

The London Philharmonic Orchestra is working very hard to make sure that as many children as possible can have that orchestral experience which was so valuable to all of us. To this end, the Orchestra presents FUNharmonics Family Concerts on three different weekend mornings every year, so whole families can enjoy the Orchestra together.

The Orchestra receives no public subsidy for its education work, so has to raise more than £30,000 each season to make these concerts happen. We are asking for your help to keep FUNharmonics ticket prices as low as possible. We would also like to provide a number of tickets free of change through schools to encourage parents who may not otherwise have considered coming or be able to afford to come, to bring their children along.

Currently a family of five can enjoy the whole morning for £28 and we do not want to exclude anyone by raising prices. Before and after the concerts, foyer activities take place to enhance the experience and to help families feel welcomed and comfortable in the Royal Festival Hall. Faces are painted, a “Human Orchestra” is rehearsed in the foyer and in every available space children line up to “Have-a-go” on orchestral instruments – which for many is the very first time they have seen or heard an instrument up close, let alone made a sound on one!

We would be so grateful if you would lend your support to help us introduce a brand new generation of children, and their families, to the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Using gift aid means that for every pound you donate, we are given an extra 28p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further. You must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that the London Philharmonic Orchestra reclaims on your donations in the appropriate tax year.

Please complete the Gift Aid Declaration when you download the donation form or as you donate online. It doesn't cost you a penny but it makes a huge difference to us.

All gifts over £250 will be acknowledged in selected concert programmes throughout 2009.
