Jeongmin KimI am delighted to be writing to you as the new Friends Supported Musician for the 2016/17 concert season, taking over the role from Stewart McIlwham. We have a wonderful programme of events coming up and I look forward to meeting you at some of them. I particularly hope to see many of you on Saturday 8 October when I will be giving a pre-concert talk to welcome you back for the new season.

This season’s highlights include Anne-Sophie Mutter playing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, the return of Osmo Vänskä conducting a Sibelius Symphony Cycle and Vladimir Jurowski’s continuation of the Mahler and Bruckner symphony cycles. Our 2017 concerts will be devoted to the Belief and Beyond Belief festival, a large-scale multi-artform collaboration with Southbank Centre. Throughout the coming season Friends of the Orchestra can enjoy opportunities to meet the musicians at our regular Meet the Players evenings and we have an exclusive opportunity for supporters to attend a tour of the organ at Royal Festival Hall. Supporters are also invited to the annual Christmas Party on Wednesday 14 December.
