Concert reviews: Wednesday 29 October 2014

On Wednesday 29 October at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, Vassily Sinaisky conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra in an all-Rachmaninoff programme as part of the Orchestra's year-long Rachmaninoff: Inside Out festival. Pavel Kolesnikov was the soloist in the Third Piano Concerto, which was followed by the Symphony No. 2. Here are the press reviews ...

‘This was a deeply satisfying instalment to the LPO’s ‘Inside Out’ series, making one relish two masterpieces given such rewarding interpretations.’ (4 stars)
Mark Pullinger, Bachtrack, 30 October 2014

‘Sinaisky is a greatly experienced conductor in this repertoire, and at once he brought this composer’s slightly forbidding but aristocratic and generous musical personality … The lyrical third movement was lovingly shaped, with a beautifully played clarinet solo by Robert Hill.’
Alan Sanders, Classical Source, 30 October 2014
