On Saturday 7 December, Vladimir Jurowski conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert at Royal Festival Hall comprising music by living British composers James MacMillan, Julian Anderson, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Thomas Adès, and featuring percussion soloist Evelyn Glennie.
Here are the press reviews ...
'This was a splendid concert, the London Philharmonic giving us a programme of complex and characteristic music meticulously prepared and played with virtuosity and commitment.'
Colin Anderson, Classical Source, 9 December 2013
'It is hard to imagine such a well-prepared concert, devoted entirely to orchestral music from the 1990s by living British composers, taking place in the Festival Hall under any circumstances other than these. For this alone, the festival deserves huge gratitude.'
Martin Kettle, The Guardian, 10 December 2013
'The LPO were absolutely spot on, with the percussion section and brass carrying the weight but also faultless playing from the rest of the orchestra.'
Renée Reitsma, Bachtrack, 10 December 2013
