★★★★☆ ‘Jurowski drew vivid playing from a beefed-up London Philharmonic, and the great tuttis ... were spine-tingling’ Richard Morrison, The Times, 10 April 2017 [paywall]

★★★★ ‘The seamless leap into Mahler’s first movement summons of the creative spirit was, undeniably, an amazing moment ... Most impressive, and amid so much sonic enormity, was Jurowski’s constant care and control over dynamics, phrasing, balance and architecture ... this was very much Jurowski’s evening.’ Martin Kettle, The Guardian, 9 April 2017

★★★★ 'Assembled year by year, Jurowski’s Mahler cycle has steadily grown in stature, and this was perhaps its most revelatory instalment yet.’ Peter Quantrill, artsdesk.com, 10 April 2017

★★★★☆ Jurowski’s reading had an electrifying theatricality. Chahine Yavroyan’s lighting design enhanced proceedings, but it was the sheer physical force of the players and singers that left the audience drained and exhilarated.’ Nick Kimberley, Evening Standard, 10 April 2017

★★★★☆ ‘This was both an excellent and thoughtful performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in E flat major in which, by virtue of the brilliance of their execution, the most quiet and reflective passages were just as overwhelming as the more obviously exuberant ones.’ Sam Smith, musicomh.com, 11 April 2017

‘This Jurowski/LPO Mahler Symphony No. 8 was unique, an experience never to forget.’ classical-iconoclast.blogspot.co.uk, 9 April 2017

‘Extraordinarily compelling. [Jurowski's] pacing was totally convincing ... and the singers and players pulled out all the stops.’ Colin Anderson, classicalsource.com, 9 April 2017

‘This was a remarkable reading, and a remarkable concert ... the standing ovation from the audience following the close was inevitable ... an unforgettable Mahler 8.’ Colin Clarke, seenandheard-international.com, 10 April 2017
