Vladimir Jurowski on Tchaikovsky and Nikodijevic

Vladimir Jurowski introduces a new composer to the LPO and returns to Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 (April 2014)

How do artists keep music fresh?  How do they approach returning to a major composition after several years?  The London Philharmonic Orchestra's Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski talks about bringing Tchaikovsky's final symphony, the Pathétique, back to the LPO and Royal Festival Hall audiences after a gap of several seasons.  He also introduces a young Serbian composer, Marko Nikodijevic, and the 'beautiful but harrowingly disturbing' work La Lugubre Gondola, which Jurowski brings to the UK for the first time in late April 2014.

The LPO's recent release of live concert recordings of Brahms' 3rd and 4th symphonies has been receiving praise from the critics.  The podcast ends with a chance to hear the end of the 4th symphony.
