Welcome to the London Philharmonic Orchestra's December 2008 podcast.
Edward Seckerson explores concert performances of two very different operas. Vladimir Jurowski pairs the opening Adagio of Mahler's unfinished Symphony No 10 with Act 2 of Wagner's Tristan and Isolde, and discusses the hugely important role the latter work had in the dissolution of 19th century tonality. Opera Rara has worked for many years to give little-known operas a voice through recordings and concert performances, and David Parry talks to Edward Seckerson about Donizetti's Parisina, and the challenges and rewards of the unknown.
