CD reviews – Hans Graf conducts Carmina Burana

March 2014's release on the LPO Label was Orff's Carmina Burana. Recorded live at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall on 6 April 2013 as part of the year-long The Rest Is Noise festival, the performance was conducted by Hans Graf and featured soloists Sarah Tynan, Andrew Kennedy and Rodion Pogossov together with the London Philharmonic Choir and Trinity Boys Choir.

On Wednesday 16 April at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, the London Philharmonic Orchestra under its Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski gave a concert comprising Photoptosis by the 20th-century composer Bernd Alois Zimmermann, followed by Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with soloist Mitsuko Uchida and Brahms's Symphony No. 4.

Concert reviews: Górecki Symphony No. 4 world premiere, 12 April 2014

On Saturday 12 April at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, the London Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Andrey Boreyko gave the posthumous and long-awaited world premiere of Henryk Górecki's Symphony No. 4, four years after the composer's death.

The programme also included Stravinsky's Violin Concerto with soloist Julian Rachlin and Alexandre Tansman's Stèle in memoriam Igor Stravinsky.
