Family Concerts

The London Philharmonic Orchestra delivers three family concerts per season. This season, they are held at the Royal Festival Hall and take place at 11.30am on Sunday 11 November 2007, 17 February 2008 and 18 May 2008. The concerts are tailored for children and parents, lasting around an hour. Aside from the concert experience, children are also able to take part in a wide variety of activites before and after the concerts, to stimulate their interest in playing and listening to music, and to have fun!

Presenters
The current presenter of FUNharmonics is Chris Jarvis of Children's TV. He guides the young audience through the repertoire, working with the conductor, to make music as accessible, and the concert as entertaining, as possible. Former presenters have included Tony Robinson, Andy Peters and Griff Rhys Jones.

These take place before and after the concerts in the foyers at the Royal Festival Hall. Children are encouraged to play on a string, woodwind or brass instrument, helped by London Philharmonic Orchestra and Future First players. These sessions are free of charge, and are often the first experience many children have of playing music.

Instruments are kindly loaned by Yamaha and Stentor.
