FUNharmonics family concerts

Hearing and seeing a full orchestra in a live concert is an experience children will remember forever.  Each year the London Philharmonic Orchestra reserves three weekend mornings for music-filled entertainment created for families, presented by Chris Jarvis of CBeebies.

Turn up early to try your hand at playing a string, woodwind or brass instrument.  There’s even the chance to get your face painted and learn circus skills.

“We took some friends to the Family Concert who are not classical music enthusiasts and they kept on saying how much they had also enjoyed the performances and the accessibility of the composers, musicians, presenters..........wonderful and inspiring...................it works on every level!  3 cheers for the LPO!!” audience member

"My family and I came to the funharmonics concert this morning and loved every minute of it. This is the third one we have seen and we have enjoyed every single one. The whole experience is one that no child should miss out on (or grown up either). We are all looking forward to November 29th!!" audience email

In the concert hall our presenter, Chris Jarvis from CBeebies, was charming and fun. His delivery entertained and educated the whole audience, from the youngest to the oldest. We learned about the different sections of the orchestra, and how the instruments are used to express characters or events in the narrative of the music...The concert lasted around an hour. It was a joy to hear music played by a full orchestra, which is a new experience for the majority of the audience. We’ll be back in November for the next FunHarmonics concert, and can’t recommend them highly enough! review in KidAround Magazine 2009
